Week of February 9, 2026

My dear Community,

February has a way of softening everything. The days are still short, the fields still quiet, and growth moves at a slower, more deliberate pace. On the farm, this is a season of deep work beneath the surface - soil resting, roots strengthening, life gathering itself for what’s next. It’s honest, not flashy. And in many ways, it mirrors where a lot of us are right now.

The food in your box reflects that rhythm. Winter vegetables are grounding and deeply nourishing in an instinctive way. Broccolini, kale, cabbage (which is really having a moment as you've likely seen), spinach, and sweet potatoes show up like quiet medicine this time of year - steady, mineral-rich, and supportive when our systems are craving warmth and stability.

When the world feels loud or unsteady, I find myself leaning into the heartbeat of this farm and this CSA - the simple rhythm of packing boxes and feeding our community. It steadies me. This land and this work have helped shape me into the woman I am today, and with that I carry a lot of humility.

Last week, someone from La Casa de la Raza asked how they could highlight me for the produce we’ve been delivering. And honestly, I almost broke under the weight of that - because the truth is, La Casa is the one showing up for people every single day. They open their doors without conditions or paperwork, making sure families are welcomed, fed, and held in dignity. And every box that arrives there is made possible by those of you who choose to donate - quietly, generously, without fanfare. With this I'm frequently reminded of this quote, "The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching." - John Wooden. Being able to support this work in such a tangible way breathes life into my tight chest. It reminds me that even when things feel heavy, there are places where humanity is still being practiced, daily.

Thank you for choosing to eat with the seasons, to support local farms through the slower months, and to keep this small food system alive and rooted in our community. I'm deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

Be good to each other.

Carolyn
