Happy Saturday, Something Good Family! 🎃🌱
We’ve been spending some time picking pumpkins around the farm, and it’s one of those little things that makes this time of year so special. There’s something about walking through the fields, looking for just the right pumpkin, and seeing all the different shapes, sizes, and colors that makes you appreciate the season a little more.
With two little ones at home, pumpkin season has taken on a whole new meaning for our family. What used to be another crop in the field has become something we get to slow down and enjoy together. It’s a sweet reminder that the farm is so much more than just the food we grow.

Meanwhile, the fields are keeping us busy! We’re harvesting sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, and beautiful honeynut squash, while our tomatoes and cucumbers are still hanging in there. Fall farming in Santa Barbara is a funny thing. One minute you’re picking tomatoes in the sunshine, and the next you’re thinking about roasting squash for dinner.
Here’s what we’re planning for next week’s boxes!

🍊 FRUIT EXPANSION
Ojai Pixies + Fuyu Persimmons!
Persimmon season is here! Fuyu persimmons are one of those fruits that don’t always get the attention they deserve. They’re sweet, crisp, and can be eaten just like an apple, skin and all.
I love how easy they are to slice up for the kids or add to a fall salad. And paired with our sweet little Ojai Pixies, this week’s fruit expansion is such a treat!
☕ Something Sweet Just Arrived in Our Store!
We added SuperMallow Marshmallows to our online store this week, and they’re such a fun little addition!
Made with grass-fed gelatin, organic maple syrup, real Redmond salt, and vanilla bean, these aren’t your typical marshmallows.
They’re perfect for:
• Floating on top of your morning coffee ☕
• Melting into a warm cup of tea
• Adding to homemade hot chocolate
• Or simply enjoying straight out of the bag!
Sometimes it’s the little treats that make a chilly morning feel extra special. Those chilly mornings are coming, and gave us a sneak peek last week!
You can find them in our store and add them to your next CSA order.
🌱 Around the Farm
As the days get shorter, we’re watching the fields shift into their cooler-weather rhythm. Some of our summer crops are slowing down, and the greens, roots, and squash are taking their turn.

It’s always a bit of a balancing act this time of year, deciding what is ready to harvest and what could use another week in the ground. That’s why we call these weekend emails our predictions! We’ll walk the fields, check what’s ready, and send out our final confirmed list on Monday.
Thank you for continuing to support our little family business, our farmers, and the work that goes into growing good food. Whether you’ve been with us for years or just joined us, we’re so grateful to have you here.
Orders close Sunday at 11:59 PM!
Wishing you a beautiful fall weekend, hopefully with a little pumpkin picking of your own. 🎃
With gratitude,
—Heather & Bryan Givens ✌️&💕

Our ducks are always busy waddling around the farm, and their eggs are pretty special, too! Here are a few fun facts about duck eggs:
• Duck eggs are typically larger than chicken eggs, with a higher yolk-to-white ratio.
• Their yolks are rich, creamy, and often a beautiful golden color.
• Duck egg whites contain more protein, which can make baked goods especially light and fluffy.
• Their thicker shells help keep them fresh, but they can also make them a little trickier to crack.
• Duck eggs are wonderful for baking, custards, pasta, and anything where you want extra richness.
• They’re also delicious simply fried, scrambled, or soft-boiled!
If you haven’t tried a duck egg before, they’re a fun way to enjoy something a little different from the farm.

Visually stunning, fragrant, juicy, and bursting with flavor, pomegranates from Northern California farms are grown in fertile soils, benefiting from the region’s Mediterranean climate, which provides warm days and cool nights. This combination of factors helps to develop a superior flavor and texture in the fruit, making them highly sought after by those who appreciate the best that nature has to offer.
Roasted Sweet Potato

Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 30 mins | Servings: 4 people
Ingredients
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
1/2 tsp fine sea salt
2 medium sweet potatoes (about 1 lb), peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
Recipe from Primavera Kitchen
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and black pepper together in a small bowl, and toss very well.
2. In a large baking sheet, add sweet potato and pour olive oil all over it. Add the seasoning mixture on top and toss to coat all the sweet potatoes.
3. Using your hands, spread out the sweet potatoes to arrange in an even layer. Bake for approximately 20–30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and browned. Don’t forget to flip the sweet potatoes every 10 minutes. I flipped my sweet potatoes 3 times.
4. Remove from oven and sprinkle with parsley. Enjoy ;-)
