Heads Up! CSA for October 30th Happy Halloween

We just adopted 26 more chickens today! That brings us to a grand total of 52 chickens and 5 turkeys!! The chickens and the turkeys live side by side. The chickens tend to pick on the turkeys, but I’m sure that will pass as the turkeys get bigger!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, or the day I like to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, November 1st. The kabocha squash in your box, which is much tastier than a pumpkin will satisfy your craving for sweets!

The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara is hosting a Harvest Faire & Auction, Saturday, November 16th 11 am – 4 pm with a pie baking contest. Please email me for more information on how to enter and help benefit a local school.

Heads Up! CSA for October 21st Cheese and Chickens

I had a chance to visit Regenerative Earth Farms this past weekend and their creamery. Tucked away in beautiful Carpinteria, this family farm is doing a lot of great things including a creamery, pigs, chickens, bees and orchards full of fruits and nuts. This is definitely a farm we want to support, not to mention their cheese is out of this world. All cheese is made by hand by several ladies over intensive 72 hour processes and lots of love. Heads UP! CSA for October 2nd

Something I’ve learned in the CSA is that the one word to describe our members best is ‘courageous’. You go after what you really love, you take charge of your own health and you create delicious recipes out of simple vegetables that make dinner a better place. You have the guts to get back to your roots, connect with your farmers and make sure you get the fresh, organic food you deserve – completely setting the standard for what NATURAL really means. That’s courage and together, by supporting small business and farms, we can continue to make sure that these options exist for generations to come.

Heads UP! CSA September 25th

Check out some new additions to the farm. 26 chickens and 5 turkeys!!! All chickens will be dedicated to laying eggs for our CSA and we plan to expand our population as soon as we figure it all out!! Check out some pictures of the happy birds in their temporary housing! (Sorry! I’m still working on my photo skills.)

The heritage turkeys will be kept for breeding for now, but we will eventually be able to introduce 100% organic free range turkeys onto the menu. The turkeys are kept under a red heat lamp to keep them warm until they come of age.

Heads UP! CSA September 18th

I ran across a really cool, local business last week that I felt a need to share. I’m big into refilling my old bottles as it obviously uses a ton less energy than recycling. Heads UP! CSA September 4th
